Full Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions (the “Terms and Conditions”) prevail in the event of any conflict or inconsistency with any other communications, including advertising or promotional materials. Entry instructions are deemed to form part of these Terms and Conditions and by participating all participants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by them. Participants should retain a copy for their information.

The Promoter takes data protection seriously. By entering this promotion, participants confirm that they have read the Privacy Policy and agree to these Terms and Conditions of the promotion. By submitting any information required as part of their participation into the promotion, participants agree to their information being held and processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1.1. ELIGIBILITY

  • There are two (2) categories available for entry:
  • Group One –Young Creators – Open to anyone in full-time primary or secondary education (typically ages 5 - 16). Entrants must live in UK or the Republic of Ireland.
  • Submissions must be sent by the entrant’s parent or legal guardian. Maximum one (1) entry per participant. All artwork must be original and the entrant’s own work and must not infringe any copyrights.
  • Group Two – Open Category – Open to anyone aged over 16 (General Public).
  • Entrants must be aged over 16 years old and live in the UK or the Republic of Ireland. Submissions must be sent by the entrant themselves. Maximum one (1) entry per participant. All submitted entries must be the entrant’s own original work and must not infringe any copyrights.
  • Employees and their immediate families of the Promoter, its agents or anyone else professionally associated with this promotion are excluded.

 

1.2. ENTRY CRITERIA

Participants can enter a maximum of one (1) design and must follow the mandatory guidance laid out by Nespresso, which requests the following:

  • Submissions must be a visual response: can include (but not limited to) lettering, illustrations, patterns or graphical treatments of visuals that can be printed on a NESPRESSO Recycling Bag. Submissions will only be considered if it can be easily converted to a format suitable for printing onto recycling bags with a maximum of three (3) colours.
  • Submissions must be A5 Portrait or Landscape in size and as a PDF, PNG or JPEG format with a maximum file size of 10 MG.
  • All submissions must be the entrant’s own, original work (no stock images or AI generated images permitted).
  • Entrants are encouraged to create eye-catching designs that represent the theme ‘Inspired by Nature’ and reflect ideas of sustainability and recycling
  • Designs should use up to 3 bold or vibrant colours
  • Successful submissions will be printed on NESPRESSO Recycling Bags which will be launched in 2026 or sooner.
  • Designs must be impactful/eye catching and have good standout for collection agencies.
  • Entries must be submitted by no later than 23:59 on 14.09.25.
  • Each submission must include the entrant’s name, contact details and a short rationale about the inspiration behind the design.
  • Submissions must be A5 portrait format. Designs should not include any Nespresso branding, instructions, bar code or other key information. These elements will be added/positioned by Nespresso to the winning designs. The winning designs may need to be adjusted to allow placement of such essential assets.
  • N.B. Designs do not need to be submitted on an actual template.
  • Entrants must retain an original copy or a high-resolution scan of their artwork.

 

ENTRY

2.1. COMPETITION

STAGE 1:

  • Entry to the competition must be made via the official Entry Form available at: https://www.nestle-promotions.co.uk/nespresso-recycling only by no later than 23:59 on 14.09.25. No other entry methods will be available.

 

STAGE 2:

  • All entries will be reviewed against the Entry Criteria (1.2) and shortlisted down to 15 designs from each category (15 Young Creators’ Designs and 15 General Public). In the event there are more than 200 entries per category, entries will be put forward into a random selection process, using an independently verified computer programme and the first 200 valid selected entries will then be judged.

 

STAGE 3:

  • These entries will then be shortlisted through a judging process and panel into four (4) shortlisted winners from each category.
  • The two (2) ultimate winners (one from each category) will be announced on 26.09.25 via Instagram.
  • Production of the new design recycling bag is currently planned for November 2025, but subject to confirmation.

 

3.1. ENTRIES

  • Any late entries received after the closing date will not be included in the judging process.
  • No purchase necessary.

 

4.1 JUDGING

  • The Judging Panel will comprise of the following members:
    Nespresso Representative
    Recycling Partner Representative
    Artist
    Independent Adjudicator
  • In the event of unforeseen circumstances, Nespresso reserve the right to amend the list of judges with alternative suitable substitutes. The total panel will consist of 4 – 6 people, including at least one (1) independent auditor.
  • In the event of a tie in selecting the four (4) finalists, the Nespresso representative will have the final casting vote.

 

4.2. SHORTLISTING CRITERIA

  • The judging criteria will be based on the judging specifications:
  • Follow the theme of 'inspired by nature': This includes inspiration from themes of nature such as (but not limited to) Forests, Trees, Seas, Marine/Aquatic Life, Rivers, Clean Air and wildlife.
  • Reflect ideas of sustainability and recycling: Does the design help to encourage recycling behaviours?
  • Use of bold vibrant colour: Designs should be as impactful and eye-catching as possible and easily spotted by Royal Mail workers for collection.
  • Creativity & Originality: Is the design concept Unique and Surprising?

 

Submissions must:

  • Submissions should be what represents ‘Inspired by Nature’ to the entrants.
  • Entries must be submitted by no later than 23:59 on 14.09.25.
  • Each submission must be supported with the entrant’s full name, a visual response and a short rationale about the inspiration behind the design.
  • Submissions must be A4 portrait format. Designs should not include any Nespresso branding, instructions, bar code or other key information. These elements will be added/positioned by Nespresso to the winning designs. The winning designs may need to be adjusted to allow placement of such essential assets.
  • All submissions must be 10MB or under in size and must be submitted in the format of a PDF, PNG or JPEG only.
  • Entrants must retain an original copy or a high-resolution scan of their artwork.

 

No responsibility can be accepted for any entries that cannot be made or that are lost or delayed for any reason whatsoever. The shortlisted entries, finalists and ultimate winners will be determined as outlined above. The date of the production of the winning bags cannot be confirmed until nearer the time but will be announced via the official Nespresso social media page(s).

5.1. PRIZES

  • The ultimate winners of each category will receive a prize bundle consisting of a Nespresso Machine (this will be awarded to the parent/guardian for the winner in the Young Creators category).
  • A one-off donation of £/€2500 to a school, or UK or ROI Registered Charity of their choice.
  • The winning designs to be featured on a print run of Limited-Edition recycling bags.
  • The prizes are as stated and no other prize or cash alternatives, in whole or in part, are available, except that in the event of circumstances outside of its control the Promoter reserves the right to substitute similar alternatives of equal or greater value.
  • By taking part in the competition, the prize winners agree that the Promoter may contact them to ask whether they want to participate in marketing activities relating to the promotion. Such publicity may include, without limitation, the entrants’ name and/or if consent given, image or statements made by entrants concerning the promotion and/or prize obtained as part of the promotion. The winners are not obliged to agree to any such request.

 

6.1. SUMMARY OF COMPETITION TIMELINE

STAGE 1:

  • Competition Opens: 25.08.25 at 11:00
  • Competition Closes: 14.09.25 at 23:59

 

STAGE 2:

  • Shortlist and Winner selection: 15.09.25 – 25.09.25

 

STAGE 3:

  • Final winners notified/announced on 26.09.25 via a post on Instagram.

 

7.1. COPYRIGHT AND RESTRICTIONS IN RELATION TO ARTWORK AND STATEMENT

By participating in the promotion, the entrant’s licence and grants the Promoter an exclusive, royalty free, perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable and sub-licensable right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish and display such content for any purpose in any media, without compensation, restriction on use, attribution or liability. Participants agree not to assert any moral rights in relation to such use where the moral rights in respect of the content are theirs to assert. Participants warrant that their entry shall not have been previously published or exploited in any part and that the materials contain no copyright materials, are their original works, have not been copied, in whole or in part, from any third party and they have full authority to grant these rights.

7.2. CONTENT

Entrants are not permitted to send anything (whether the artwork and/or rationale) which:

  • is defamatory, private, confidential, embarrassing, offensive, an infringement of any third-party rights (e.g. someone else's copyright or trademark), obscene, violent, racist, pornographic, indecent, vulgar, hateful, threatening, harassing, false, unfair, illegal or misleading,
  • may cause alarm, upset or distress, or
  • may damage or interfere with the Promoter's or another person's computer systems; or
  • is otherwise unlawful.

 

7.3. THE SUBMISSION

  • Please note that submissions can be provided as an A5 PDF, PNG or JPEG, 10MB or less.
  • Furthermore, the Promoter reserves the right to reject any material received it deems, at its sole discretion, to be unsuitable content.

 

8.1. DATA PROTECTION AND PRIVACY
WHAT DATA WILL WE COLLECT?

  • Personal data about all entrants: In running the competition, we will be collecting your name and email. We will also hold the statement you submit, outlining your rationale for producing your artwork.

 

Winners’ List: Subject to the Promoter’s Privacy Policy which can be found at https://www.nespresso.com/uk/en/pages/legal, the surnames and counties of verified winners will be available upon request by sending an email to: consumer.services@uk.nestle.com with the subject line ‘WINNERS LIST: NESPRESSO RECYCLING DESIGN COMPETITION 2025’ for a period of three (3) months following the end of the competition. The Promoter reserves the right to refuse any or all such requests. When contacting this email address, your request will be actioned in line with Nestlé’s Privacy Policy. If any winner objects to their information being published, then they can contact the Promoter by emailing: UKI.Dataprotection@uk.nestle.com. We may nevertheless disclose the information to the Advertising Standards Authority if required to do so.

Data Protection: The Promoter will only use the personal details supplied for the administration of the competition and the auditing of the entries where necessary and for no other purpose, unless we have your consent, and you have opted-in to receive future marketing communications. As part of this competition, if you are not opted-in into our general marketing email, you will still receive emails for this competition only to let you know if you have won. The surnames and counties of verified winners will be made available as set out above and winners can object to this by emailing UKI.Dataprotection@uk.nestle.com. Otherwise, your personal details will at all times be kept confidential, and in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Any data obtained via this promotion will be deleted after three (3) months of the promotional end date with the exception of the winner(s) and reserve(s) whose data will be deleted after fulfilment of the prize and printing of the winning designs.

Who can access your Personal Data and why?

We limit the disclosure of your Personal Data to others, however, we do need to disclose your Personal Data in certain instances and mainly to the following recipients:

  • Companies within the Nestlé Group, where required for our legitimate interests or with your consent;
  • Third parties engaged by us to provide services such as administering the competition, fulfilling the prizes and conducting any marketing, subject to appropriate protections; and
  • Relevant public agencies and authorities, if required to do so by law or a legitimate business interest.

Transfer of your personal data

We may process your Personal Data outside of the country in which you are based (including countries outside the European Economic Area) for the purposes set out in this notice. When we transfer your Personal Data to other countries, we take reasonable steps to ensure that applicable laws are being followed.

What are your rights over your Personal Data?

Whenever we ask you to provide us with any Personal Data, you will be told why we need it and how it will be used. Your Personal Data will only be processed for the purposes set out in our Privacy Notice, or any other further purposes notified to you before the processing begins. If you choose not to provide Personal Data when we ask you, this may limit your ability to participate in the competitions.

If you share Personal Data with us, you have a right to (i) request access (i.e. to ask us what data we have about you, and obtain a copy), (ii) request for changes to be made, (iii) request to have the data deleted (iii) assert your right to object to the processing. This can be done by contacting us.

You can make a complaint. If you are concerned about a possible interference with your privacy or misuse of your Personal Data by us, you can contact us to make a complaint. We hope we can satisfy queries you may have about the way we process your Personal Data. However, if you have unresolved concerns, you also have the right to complain to competent data protection authorities.

Data security and retention

We use a variety of measures to keep your Personal Data confidential and secure, including restricting access to your Personal Data on a need-to-know basis and following appropriate security standards to protect your data.

We take every reasonable step to ensure that your Personal Data is only processed for the minimum period necessary (no longer than 90 days from the date of the winners being announced) in connection with: (i) the purposes set out in this Privacy Notice; (ii) any additional purposes notified to you at or before the time of collection of the relevant Personal Data or commencement of the relevant processing; or (iii) as required or permitted by applicable law; and thereafter, for the duration of any applicable limitation period. In short, once your Personal Data is no longer required, we will destroy or delete it in a secure manner.

9.1. GENERAL

The entry instructions form part of the Terms and Conditions. By entering, entrants agree to accept and be bound by the Terms and Conditions. The Promoter reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any point during the promotion if circumstances make this unavoidable.

9.2. Any breach of these Terms and Conditions will result in the forfeit of entry.

9.3. The Promoter's decision is final and binding in all matters.

9.4. The Promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the promotion or these Terms and Conditions, at any stage, but will always endeavour to minimise the effect to participants in order to avoid undue disappointment. If, for any reason, any aspect of this promotion is not capable of running as planned, including by reason of infection by computer virus, network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other cause beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this promotion, the Promoter may in its sole discretion modify or suspend the promotion or invalidate any affected entries. If an act, omission, event, or circumstance occurs which is beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter and which prevents the Promoter from complying with these Terms and Conditions the Promoter will not be liable for any failure to perform or delay in performing its obligation but will always endeavour to minimise the effect to participants in order to avoid undue disappointment.

9.5. If any of these clauses should be determined to be illegal, invalid or otherwise unenforceable then it shall be severed and deleted from these Terms and Conditions and the remaining clauses shall survive and remain in full force and effect.

9.6. The Promotion and these Terms and Conditions will be governed by the laws of the participating country but any disputes as to the meaning of these Terms and Conditions will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the participant’s local courts.
